How much clothing do I need to send?
For a single bear, two to three adult-sized t-shirts (or the equivalent in other clothing) is plenty. For a child's quilt, plan on six to ten pieces of clothing. For an adult quilt, twenty or more. If you're not sure, send what you have and we'll let you know before cutting.
What kinds of clothing work best?
Woven cottons (button-down shirts, flannels), t-shirts, sweatshirts, blankets, bandanas, sheets and linen all sew up beautifully. Heavier wovens like denim are great as accent pieces.
Can you make a bear from very small or damaged items?
Often, yes. We're used to working around stains, holes, and small pieces — we can usually feature the meaningful sections and combine them with coordinating clothing you send. If something is too far gone, we'll email you before cutting and figure it out together.
Are there materials you can't really work with?
Very stretchy knits like swimwear and athletic mesh, vinyl, leather, and clothing that is actively falling apart are all challenging. Reach out before you ship if you're unsure — we'd rather talk it through than surprise you.
How long does it take?
Right now, typical turnaround is about 5–7 days from the day your clothing arrives at the studio. That can stretch longer in busy seasons (holidays, gift seasons) or for quilts and larger orders. We'll keep you updated by email as your order moves through.
I'm local to Orlando — can I drop off and pick up in person?
Yes — if you're nearby, you're welcome to skip the shipping altogether. Message us on Facebook and we'll set up a drop-off and pickup time that works for you.
Do you ship to Canada?
Yes — we ship across the US and Canada. We aren't able to ship internationally beyond that yet.
How much is shipping?
Domestic US shipping is a flat rate calculated at checkout. Canadian shipping varies by destination and is shown before you pay. If you'd like us to send you a prepaid label for shipping your clothing in, that's an option at checkout too.
Can I track my order?
Yes. You'll get an email confirmation with an order code when you place your order, an update when your clothing arrives at the studio, and a tracking number the day your finished keepsake ships. You can also look up your order any time on our track-order page.
Can I cancel or change my order after I've sent clothing?
If we haven't started cutting yet, almost always — just email us. Once cutting has started, changes become harder, but we'll do our best to work with you.
Do you keep extra clothing, or do you send the scraps back?
By default we hold onto any usable leftover clothing for a few weeks in case you want a small add-on (a matching pillow, a second pocket bear). If you'd like the scraps returned, just say so in your order notes and we'll include them in your box.
What if I'm not happy with the result?
Reach out. We can't undo cutting, but we care a lot about getting this right and we'll always try to make it whole — whether that means a fix, a remake from remaining clothing, or a refund. Email us and we'll talk through it.
Do you offer rush orders?
Occasionally, depending on the season and our queue. Email us before ordering with your needed-by date and we'll let you know if it's possible.
Can I order multiple bears from the same clothing?
Absolutely — a lot of families do this for siblings, or for the whole grandkid lineup. Send enough clothing for the number of bears you want, and add them all to one order so we cut from the same pile.
What is the Spirit Bear?
The Spirit Bear is a program for Spirit Airlines employees impacted by layoffs and changes at the company. If you worked there, you can send in a uniform piece or any clothing tied to your time at Spirit and we'll sew it into a bear at a reduced price. It's a small gesture in a hard moment — we wanted to do something honest, not opportunistic. If you have questions, please email us first.
Can I ship a gift order to a different address?
Yes. At checkout you can enter a separate shipping address. If you'd like us to include a handwritten note in the box, leave it in the order notes and we'll add it.
